Sherry Bentley
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Sherry Jean Bentley, age 66, passed away unexpectedly due to complications during surgery in the early hours of the New Year, on January 1st, 2026.
Sherry was born to Sven and Shirley (Karila) Lindfors on October 12, 1959, the second of five children. She was raised in the Nolalu, Ontario area, near Whitefish Lake, with a strong appreciation for her Finnish heritage. She assisted with the family business, Gravel Lakes Cabins, before pursuing postsecondary education in animal care. Sherry received her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Guelph in 1982 and her Animal Health Technician Diploma from St. Clair College in 1987. She found employment with the Government of Canada, first with Agriculture Canada in 1987, then with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, to which she dedicated many years. Sherry met her husband, Phil Bentley, on a blind date while living in Mississauga, and the two had one daughter, Sarah. Sherry followed her career to London, Ontario in 2006, where she and her family spent many happy years. Upon retiring from the CFIA in 2019, she dedicated her time to her love of crafting, including crocheting and quilting, to create heartfelt keepsakes for her loved ones.
Sherry was predeceased by both parents, Sven (d. 2008) and Shirley (d. 2011), alongside her brother, Steven Lindfors (d. 2022). She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Phil, and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sarah (Reigner). Sherry was the cherished sister of Sharon (Randy) Krystalovich of Gibsons Landing, BC, Stewart Lindfors of Nolalu, ON, and Sandra (Bryce) Kelly of Lethbridge, AB. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be no formal service, but a private family gathering will be held at a future date. The family extends its sincere appreciation to the surgeons and staff of University Hospital in London, Ontario, for their efforts in Sherry’s care. Memorial donations may be made to the London Health Sciences Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
