Obituary Overview
Shirley Lillian Sauve (nee Cook)
Shirley Lillian Sauvé (née Cook)
June 28, 1930 – May 22, 2026
With tender hearts and deep love, we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Lillian Sauvé (née Cook) on May 22, 2026, at Erie Shores Hospice, after three weeks of truly extraordinary care that will forever remain a source of comfort and gratitude to her family.
Shirley lived a long and beautiful life, rich in love, compassion, and quiet strength. She enjoyed living at her cottage in Forest ON with her late Adam Sauvé.
A devoted and nurturing mother, Shirley leaves behind her cherished daughters, Susan Power (Barry Power) and Karen Wadsworth (Ross Wadsworth), both daughters of the Henderson family. Her love as a mother was steadfast and unconditional — the kind of love that comforts long after it is given.
She was a proud and adoring Nan to Shannon Pimentel and Wesley Wadsworth, and a deeply treasured Nanny to Ian Power and Tsvetta Klimentova, and Sarah Gates (Jeff). Her legacy of love continues to blossom through her great-grandchildren — Kean, Cole, Natalie, Nicole, Veronica, William, Sam, and Emily — each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and endless smiles.
Shirley was predeceased by her beloved sister, Dorothy Henderson (late Douglas), and is lovingly remembered by her nephew, Jamie Henderson, who held a special place in her heart.
Shirley’s journey took her from London, Ontario, to Forest, Ontario and where she spent many meaningful years, and later to Leamington, where she made her home in her later life. For more than a decade, she was warmly cared for within the community at Rosewood Erie Glen Retirement Residence, where she was embraced with kindness, dignity, and friendship.
Those who knew Shirley will remember her gentle spirit and the simple joys that filled her days. She had a special love for the beauty of nature, especially the sight of bright red cardinals, which seemed to bring her a quiet sense of wonder and peace. She found happiness in knitting, in being outdoors, and in traveling, always carrying with her a curiosity for the world and an appreciation for life’s small, precious moments.
Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her, and watching over them with the same loving presence she gave so freely in life.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 60 Erie Street, Leamington, on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11 am. A private inurnment will follow in October at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in London, Ontario, where Shirley will be laid to rest.
In honour of Shirley’s life, and in deep appreciation for the incredible compassion shown to her and her family, memorial donations to Erie Shores Hospice, Leamington, would be truly and sincerely appreciated. The care provided there was beyond measure — a gift of comfort, dignity, and kindness that will never be forgotten.
Shirley will be deeply missed, forever loved, and gently remembered in every cardinal’s song, every quiet moment, and every stitch of warmth she left behind. Arrangements entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation - Essex.
