Sydney George Donald Cox
September 14, 1981 – February 18, 2026
With profound sadness and hearts still catching their breath, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Sydney George Donald Cox, who left this world far too soon on February 18, 2026. His departure has left a quiet ache in the lives of all who loved him—an emptiness shaped exactly like his laugh, his music, and his unmistakable presence.
Born on September 14, 1981, Sydney was the beloved son of Connie McKenzie, the late Ian McKenzie (2024), and the late Kenneth Cox (2008). He grew into a man who loved fiercely, cared deeply, and found joy in the simplest of moments—especially when surrounded by those he cherished.
Sydney was the devoted spouse, best friend, and true companion of Cherie Druce, with whom he shared a bond rooted in love, humour, and the unspoken understanding that comes from walking through life together. He also held a special place in the lives of Cherie’s children: Justin (Emily), Sarah (Tajee), and grandson Zaiden, who brought light to his days.
He will be profoundly missed by his own children—Justice (Emily), Christian, Rain, and Denver—each carrying a part of his spirit, his stubbornness, and his unmistakable spark.
Sydney was a loving brother to Kerri (Dan), best friend and protector, and a proud uncle to Cheyenne, Cara, Anna, and Kenny, and special nephew to Dawson Rose.
His family circle was wide, woven with friends who became family, and family who became his whole world.
To say he will be missed is far too small. Sydney leaves behind a constellation of people forever changed by his kindness, his humour, his fierce loyalty, and the way he could fill a room simply by walking into it.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many friends, neighbours, and loved ones who have reached out during this difficult time—your support has been a gentle reminder that no one walks through grief alone. Deep gratitude is also extended to the compassionate staff at Windsor Regional Hospital – Met Campus, whose kindness and care for Sydney and his family will never be forgotten.
Sydney loved his family endlessly. He loved music—the kind you feel in your chest. He loved hockey, especially from his childhood days, when the rink was his favourite place in the world. But most of all, he loved people—and people loved him right back.
A Celebration of Sydney’s Life will be held at New Song Church, Drouillard Road, Windsor on March 7th at 11:00 a.m.
Donations in memory of Sydney may be made to Brentwood Recovery Homes – Windsor and New Song Church.
Arrangements entrusted to Simple Choice Cremation – Dougall.
