In Loving Memory of Veronica Sally Day
With deep reverence for a life lived boldly and on her own terms, we announce the peaceful passing of Veronica Sally Day at her home, at the age of 84. Born in Windsor, Veronica’s life was a masterclass in resilience, wisdom, and unyielding strength—qualities she wore like armor and shared as a gift with everyone she loved.
Veronica devoted over 35 years of dedicated service as a telephone operator with Bell Canada, where she was widely respected for her sharp professionalism, warmth, and vibrant presence. Beyond her career, she was a cornerstone of her community. With a heart as big as her personality, Veronica was always ready to uplift others, speak truth with wisdom, and protect those she cared for.
Veronica was not a woman to be defined by quietness or gentleness. She was a multi-dimensional, fierce, and unforgettable force. The absolute bedrock of her family, she was an extraordinary mother whose love was a steadfast, protective shield. Her delightful sense of humor, unique charm, and bold purpose brought light and laughter to countless lives. She possessed a rare, magnetic ability to make others feel seen, valued, and deeply cared for.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Mildred Nora Christian McCallum (nee Day). Lovingly raised by John Day, she is also remembered as the daughter of Vernon Johnson.
Veronica was predeceased by her siblings John (Nibby) Day Jr., Bobby Day, Dennis Day, and sister Constance (Connie) Day. She leaves behind her cherished siblings Steven Arnold Day, Jerry Ivan Day (Janice) Vernon (Skip) Milton Johnson Jr., Karen Renea Acosta, and Carl Golden, who will remember her strength and deep affection.
She was the proud and devoted mother of Lynelle (Toony) McCants and Connie Lynelle Clement-Day, who carry forward her fierce spirit, love, and guidance.
Veronica was a deeply proud grandmother to Daijah Samonè Clement-Day-Badgley,(Brandon Velazquez),Hendrix Kiari Bailey Clement-Day-Keats, Terrin Lyn Kibambe (née Williams), Tovia Gabrielle Williams, Terrence Frederick Williams II, and Tyla Monique Helen-Veronica Williams,(Phillip). Her powerful legacy is beautifully carried forward through her adored great-grandchildren: Ymila Eugenie Gabrielle Kibambe, Azai Mutondo Kibambe, Zara Denise Wade, and Namir Zachariah Wade.
She will also be fondly remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her wisdom, big heart, and enduring respect.
