It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Wayne James Bedal,
surrounded by the love of his family, on July 14, 2026, at the age of 86.
Wayne was born on December 13, 1939, in Harrow, Ontario, to Leonard and Rachel
Bedal, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his beloved wife,
Carol, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage; his brothers, Raymond and Lenny;
his brother-in-law Gerry Pouget; and his stepson, Tony Farrella.
Wayne is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Mable Pouget and Shirley (Jerry)
Fawdry; his children, Chad (Sonya) Bedal, Shawnda (Shane) Bedal, and
stepdaughter Tina (Phil) Melicant; and his treasured grandchildren, Emma (Jayden),
Carter, Derek, Jayna, Paige, Ryan, and Bryce. He also leaves behind many nieces,
nephews, grand nieces and nephews, extended family, dear friends, and the faithful
Labrador Retriever who remained by his side until the very end.

Born and raised in Harrow, Wayne was proud to call the community home throughout
his life. The early parts of his teaching career found him on Pelee Island, where he not
only found his calling as an elementary school teacher but also met his wife, Carol.
Together they built a life rooted in family, hard work, and a shared appreciation for the
simple joys of life. Wayne later returned to Harrow, where he continued teaching until
his retirement.

Never one to sit still, Wayne filled his summers with adventures and hard work. During
his early teaching years, he drove transport trucks and captained charter fishing boats,
combining his strong work ethic with his love of the outdoors and the water. Throughout
his life, he remained a gifted woodworker, creating projects with skill and patience that
reflected the pride he took in working with his hands.

The outdoors was Wayne's happy place. Whether hunting in the fall, fishing on a quiet
lake, camping throughout Northern Ontario and Northern Michigan, or spending spring
days making maple syrup in his beloved sugar shack, he found peace in nature and joy
in sharing those experiences with family and friends.

Wayne also cherished the friendships he built over the years. He loved a good game of
poker and regularly welcomed friends into his "Man Cave" for weekly card nights filled
with laughter and stories. At the Sportsman's Club, he was a familiar face at the pool
table, proudly captaining league teams and enjoying the camaraderie that came with the
game.

Above all else, Wayne will be remembered for his generous heart and larger-than-life
personality. He was a natural storyteller whose tales—sometimes humorous, sometimes
heartfelt, and occasionally embellished for effect—captivated anyone willing to listen.

He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbour, friend, or family member, asking for
little in return. His kindness, practical wisdom, and willingness to help left a lasting
impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Wayne embraced life with curiosity, determination, and a quiet generosity that touched
countless people. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he
treasured, and the many memories created around campfires, fishing boats, maple
trees, poker tables, and workshop benches.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be announced at a later date.
