William “Billy” Merriam passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, unforgettable memories, and endless love for his family.

Billy was the beloved son of Robert Merriam and Greta Dean, loving father to Ryan Merriam and Tanya Merriam, proud grandfather to Tyler Merriam and Troy Merriam, and cherished brother to Nancy, Joe, Jeff, and John. He was also a loved uncle to Kyle, Kent, Meghan, Katie, Jenny, and Jeff Jr.

Above all else, Billy loved his children deeply. Being a father was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he made sure Ryan and Tanya always felt loved, supported, and protected. He worked hard to give his children not only what they needed, but a childhood full of moments they would never forget.

He was the dad who dressed up as a clown for birthday parties, chased the kids through the house with a hose during water fights, and somehow turned ordinary days into memories that would last forever. He had a way of making people laugh no matter the situation, and his energy was the kind people naturally gravitated toward.

Billy was someone you could always count on. Whether it was helping someone financially, lending a hand building a house, or standing up for the people he loved when no one else would, he was there without hesitation. His loyalty to family and friends never wavered.

He loved painting, playing his guitar, sharing stories, and enjoying a good cocktail with the people he cared about most. His laugh was contagious, his presence unforgettable, and his love for his family was felt in everything he did.
One of Billy’s favourite sayings was, “Control the controllable.”

And through every challenge life gave him, he faced it with strength, humour, and determination — never losing the love he had for the people around him.
